Msgr. Greg Schaffer was at his storytelling best Sunday at St. Peter in North St. Paul. The native of Miesville, MN, told how the May 2009 mudslides not only wiped out precious hillside growing land for corn, beans and coffee but landed on the homes of the people he has served for 49 years now at San Lucas Toliman, the Guatemalan mission of the Diocese of New Ulm.

The story of the mission is worth reading at http://www.sanlucasmission.org/history.php, and then hit the “DONATE” tab and join me in making whatever contribution you can to help this great priest help his parishioners counter the process of poverty.
